Crate training a dog that will grow rapidly?

I have always had small to medium size dogs but I have been approached about taking a full blooded Great Dane from an unexpected liter. I have the room and have no issue with feedings, attention, training, etc. But my question is that I would like to crate train the dog so I can have her inside as well as outside. Can I start out with the largest crate or do I need to work my way up in sizes? Any suggestions on this or on any advice from anyone who has raised Great Danes? Thanks in advance.

My beagle mix is a medium sized dog but he was still only 4lbs at 8 weeks. I just got a full-sized crate for his expected adult weight that came with a divider. You slowly move the divider back as the dog grows and eventually get rid of it once they are big enough – saves you from buying multiple crates!

You should work your way up if she is not potty trained. If the crate is too large they will simply potty in their crate. If it is smaller, they will be less likely to do so. Definitely start small and work your way up.
